My Toshiko Akiyoshi (秋吉敏子) Record Collections

日裔美籍的秋吉敏子（Toshiko Akiyoshi）在過去四分之一世紀以來被視為當代最優秀，且成就已超越既有音樂類型的作曲/編曲家。秋吉敏子在日本同時接受傳統與西式音樂教育，除了爵士鋼琴演奏技巧受Bud Powell 影響，其實她在作曲編曲方面也卓然有成。當秋吉敏子五十年代中期到美國深造後，於學習與不停演奏中逐漸於作品中靈活運用多樣樂器編制，從鋼琴獨奏到大樂團都成為她持續發展的演奏方式，尤其Duke Ellington跟Billy Strayhorn諸多大樂團的傑作更啟發了秋吉敏子並成為在她作曲/編曲成熟期裡最得心應手的創作載體。除此之外，她在樂曲內容裡嘗試注入更多深度，題裁愈偏繁複與重視社會歷史人文等議題，並在爵士樂的語彙裡尋求東西方文化碰撞下的多種可能。

七十年代至今秋吉敏子領導的大樂團已發行多張足以名留青史的經典專輯，如她大樂團編制的爵士概念作品「Kogan」(孤軍) 、「Tales of Courtesan」(花魁譚) 、「Insight」、「Salted Gingko Nuts」(塩銀杏)等，都是成功將日本傳統音樂元素與爵士樂融合的優秀範例。我的秋吉敏子音樂初體驗是某回好奇購入1991年的Carnegie Hall Concert現場實況專輯，反覆聆聽，驚為天人之餘，開始透過旅居美國與周遊日本的機會尋找跟她相關，甚至與她兩任丈夫(Charlie Mariano & Lew Tabackin)相關的CD/LP唱片。最近發現台灣唱片公司似乎已引進十多張秋吉敏子的Big Band & Jazz Orchestra的專輯，被歸類在Sony-BMG日盤BVCJ系列，值得有興趣的樂迷參考。
